Transit Service Pilot Program

On January 27, 2014, SamTrans will be launching a new, one-year pilot transit service in the City of San Carlos, which will offer residents and visitors more options for their transportation needs.

During peak commute hours, residents will be able to ride on a fixed route shuttle to and from the San Carlos Caltrain Station and nearby destinations such as medical facilities, shopping centers, employers and the Adult Community Center.

Additionally, the pilot service will offer personalized transportation services to off-peak customers traveling within San Carlos Riders will be able to call ahead and schedule pick-ups and drop-offs from any location within San Carlos city limits.

The pilot is part of the SamTrans Service Plan designed to increase ridership, better serve customers and ensure that SamTrans service is more reliable, efficient and cost-effective to operate.

The fare for the pilot program will be the same as local service on SamTrans:

$2.00 - Adult
$1.25 - Youth 17 years of age and younger
$1.00 - Seniors, Disabled and Medicare cardholders

Service hours for the fixed route are weekdays from 6:46 am to 9:35 am and 3:08 pm to 6:41 pm. On- demand (dial-a-ride) service will be from 9:35 am to 3:08 pm, weekdays.
